1. Why is this 140 watt laser more expensive than those 500 watt lasers?

Because this laser is different from regular lasers. Its spot diameter is only 8 μ m, and M2≤1. It is our latest developed laser, unique in the world. When paired with a 50x beam expander, it can ignite cardboard boxes over a distance of 300 meters.

What does M2 mean?

M² (Beam Quality Factor) is a key parameter measuring the beam quality of a fiber laser, defined as the ratio of the actual laser beam’s divergence and waist size to those of an ideal Gaussian beam (TEM₀₀ mode).
 
In simple terms:
 
- M² = 1: Perfect Gaussian beam (best focusability, smallest spot size after focusing).

- M² > 1: Deviates from ideal (worse focusability, larger focused spot; common for fiber lasers, usually 1.1~1.5 for high-quality ones).
 
It directly affects focusing precision (e.g., for cutting/drilling) and energy density—lower M² means better performance in high-precision applications.
